Individual, couples, family and group therapy — grounded in real life, and shaped around what matters most to you right now.
Individual therapy is a private, one-on-one space where you work directly with Violet to explore your thoughts, emotions, patterns and life circumstances. This is your time — to speak freely, gain insight, and develop practical tools to navigate life with greater clarity and confidence.
The work is collaborative. Violet doesn’t come with a script or a predetermined plan. Sessions begin with listening — really listening — before any direction is set. What matters most to you shapes what happens in the room.

Most clients notice clearer thinking and reduced reactivity within the first few sessions — even before deeper patterns are fully understood.
Couples therapy at Itûra is not mediation. It is structured, evidence-based work aimed at helping two people understand each other at a deeper level — and develop patterns of interaction that actually sustain a relationship over time.
Premarital counselling supports intentional conversations before marriage: about money, family, faith, parenting, expectations, and the things couples rarely discuss until they become conflicts. Coming before a crisis is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Couples often report fewer repeated arguments within weeks — not because the issues disappear, but because they finally have a shared language to navigate them.
Family therapy works with the family system, not just the individual. Patterns that feel personal are often relational — they develop between people over time, and they are most effectively addressed with those people in the room.
Sessions are structured and facilitated. Violet holds the space so that difficult conversations can happen with less reactivity and more understanding. The goal is not agreement on everything — it is a functional, respectful way of living together and navigating difficulty as a unit.
Who attends can vary depending on the issue and the family’s situation. This is discussed and agreed at the outset.
Families leave sessions with specific, practical agreements — not just better feelings. The work is designed to transfer into daily life.
Group counselling — what we call Itûra Circles — draws directly on the founding philosophy of the practice. Healing happens in community. The group format does things that individual therapy cannot: it shows you that your experience is not unique, it creates accountability, and it offers the particular comfort of being understood by people who are actually going through it.
Groups are facilitated by Violet and run in structured 8-week cycles. Each cycle focuses on a specific theme — anxiety management, grief, relationship patterns, or personal growth. Participants are carefully matched to ensure the group is a genuinely safe and cohesive space.
Group counselling is not group therapy in the clinical sense. It is facilitated peer support with professional guidance — a different kind of healing, not a lesser one.
The group format often unlocks what one-on-one sessions cannot. Hearing your own experience reflected back by another person in the group changes something.

Use the booking triage to find the right session type, or take the free 5-question check-in if you're not yet sure.
Your records are stored securely and accessed only by your clinician. We take appropriate steps to protect your information at every stage.
There are limited legal exceptions where confidentiality may be broken—such as risk of serious harm to you or others, or a court order. These are explained clearly from the outset.
Sessions are typically weekly to start. Frequency adapts as the work progresses and your goals are met
We believe cost should not be the reason someone doesn’t get help. Fees below reflect the standard rate. A sliding scale is available — see below.
If the standard rate isn’t workable right now, we offer a limited number of reduced-fee sessions.
You decide what is sustainable, and we agree a rate together — simply and without friction.
Slots are limited each month. You can request one when booking or via WhatsApp
The booking triage on the homepage asks three quick questions and routes you to the right starting point. If you're still unsure, the free 5-question check-in gives a more tailored recommendation. You can also WhatsApp us directly — we'll help you find the right fit without any pressure to book.
A first session is focused on understanding — not on fixing anything or reaching conclusions. Violet will ask about what brings you in, your background, and what you're hoping to get from the work. You're not expected to share everything in session one, and you won't be pushed to. By the end, you'll have a clearer sense of what the work might look like and whether the fit feels right.
Yes. Individual and couples sessions are available online from anywhere in Kenya — or internationally if you are Kenyan living abroad. Online sessions are conducted via a secure video platform and are just as confidential as in-person sessions. The experience is different but not lesser; many clients prefer the convenience and privacy of online work.
Mountain Mall (Thika Road) and Machakos Mall both have ample parking and are accessible by matatu from the CBD. Acacia Mall in Nanyuki is centrally located with parking available. If you have specific access needs, please reach out before your first session and we will do our best to accommodate.
Yes. Confidentiality is a core professional and ethical obligation. Nothing you share is passed to any third party — including family members or employers — without your explicit written consent. The only narrow exceptions, required by Kenyan law, are where there is a credible risk of serious harm to yourself or another person, or a court order. These exceptions are explained clearly in your first session.
There is no standard answer — it depends entirely on what you're working on and what you want to achieve. Some people find significant clarity in six to eight sessions. Others do longer-term work over months. Violet reviews progress regularly and is direct about whether the work is helping. You are never kept in therapy longer than is useful.
For couples therapy to be effective, both partners need to attend. Seeing only one partner means only hearing one perspective — and couples work is fundamentally about the space between two people. If your partner is reluctant, that is actually something that can be discussed in a first session with both present. It is common, and it does not mean the work cannot happen.
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged at the full session rate, as that time cannot be offered to another client. If something unexpected comes up, please WhatsApp as soon as you know — we understand that life happens and will always try to be reasonable.
Start with a short guided assessment — no pressure, no diagnosis. Just clarity on what might help next.
